My Biggy Print has arrived!

Well, my Biggy Print in Splash is here and it's as gorgeous as I'd hoped it would be. The various colours and textures are amazing. It was delivered very efficiently by Rowan Up Country. I'm already wondering if I've my three balls are going to be enough! I want this to be my ultimate dream snuggly scarf, I'd like it to go round a couple of times and still hang down my front, I'd also forgotten about the bloomin' tassles! Here's a pic of the stunning stuff (the colours here are much more accurate than the Rowan photo I posted before)...

I've also made good progress with the bag I'm making, I now have two handles and a pocket! I'm using Magnum Multi Chunky wool which is knitting up beautifully. I thought this bag would be a good idea as it requires stitching together and seed (moss in the U.S) stitch which I needed more practise at. The pattern can be found here. If anyone's tried the Knit Knack CD then I'd be very interested to hear what they thought as I'm thinking about getting it.

I'm off to try out my 20mm needles!

Valentine's Day...

I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day, whoever you were with. I had a lovely time, my other half surprised me by driving down to see me and cooking me a lovely supper. He also got me my favourite perfume, Dior 'Addict'.

We had duck breasts, carrot and suede mash with beautiful stuffed field mushrooms that Stu invented while we were camping a couple of years ago. Had a nice quiet evening watching new episodes of 'House' that I have, erm, procured.

I'll get the recipe for the mushies up soon, you'll love it :-)

Blimey, it was the first day in nearly a month that I haven't done any knitting!

Yey, my 'Biggy Print' scarf is iminent!

I'm really excited because (after much dithering!) I've finally ordered 3 balls of Rowan's 'Biggy Print' wool in 'Splash' to make myself a lovely chunky scarf with (from Angel Yarns). The amount of time I've taken to decide, the weather is probably going to be warm by the time I've knitted it, but at least it'll knit up super-fast on my huuuuge 20mm wooden needles! And as a bonus, if I ever get attacked by vampires I'll have something to defend myself with, hurrah. Edit - I have cancelled my order with Angel Yarns as they didn't have it all in stock. I'll let you know where I end up ordering it from!

I love the gorgeous watery cool colours, I can't wait to get my hands on it. Here's a photo courtesy of those lovely folks at Rowan....

My knitting companion....

I thought I'd take this opportunity to introduce you to one of my cats, this is Clemmy nuzzling my knitting needles! On the needles is a little something I'm knitting for my sweetheart for Valentine's Day on Wednesday. It's in Vermont chunky wool by 'Teddy'. I can't post pictures yet for obvious reasons, I will once I've given it to him!

Recycled Sari Silk!

Mmmmm, drool, my sari silk from eBay arrived from India yesterday. It's so beautiful and features some incredible colours. The seller definately gets good feedback for this, I've just got to decide what to make with it!

I had a little play to see how it knits up and made a little cuff, I've got to attach a button and put a loop on it which will be a good chance to practise a bit more crochet! Speaking of crochet, I used crab stitch to stabilise the slightly curly stocking stitch edges, worked rather well I thought...

Well it's begun...

With a little help from Debbie Stoller's excellent 'Stitch 'N Bitch' and my Mum, I began with a few shakey practise swatches! Managed to leave the house and got these fab bargain knitting bags from good old 'Primark'.

Please bear with me while I get my new blog up and running. I hope to have information about the projects I have started and some images of my stash up very soon!

In the meantime, good luck with your projects and UFOs!

Also try searching for knitting on You Tube if you have time, some surprising results but also some very helpful videos!
